The OSU Health Sciences building expansion in Tulsa serves a hybrid role — medical teaching and clinical-simulation space plus traditional university instructional and administrative use. The electrical, fire alarm, and low-voltage scopes had to satisfy both healthcare-adjacent code requirements (for the clinical-simulation and teaching-hospital interfaces) and standard education-building code across the academic portions of the facility.
A building with both clinical-simulation suites and traditional classrooms can't be staffed like a pure academic project — the clinical portions demand healthcare-construction-trained craftsmen who know Article 517 and NFPA 99, and those craftsmen have to coordinate with academic-side installers on the shared systems (fire alarm backbone, IT infrastructure, essential-power distribution). We staffed craftsmen comfortable across both code regimes so the project didn't have to run two parallel dispatch streams.
